The winner of Contechs’ 2017 Steve Olney Award, Tom Smith, was recently invited to Contechs HQ to collect his award.
Tom was announced as the overall winner earlier this year, thanks to his excellent Harmony Cruise Liner concept which wowed judges and clinched the big award.
Discussing his concept, Tom said:
“The pursuit to find sanctuary and refuge is a journey that humanity has taken for centuries, however today that ultimate goal of peace seems further away than ever. Harmony, a luxury cruise liner inspired by the principles of the biophilia hypothesis, showcases a new form of luxury design. A holistic approach that focuses on wellbeing and health to create a haven of tranquillity”
Tom, who studied at and graduated from Coventry University, the official partner of the Steve Olney Awards, was unable to attend the official award ceremony in June, due to his acceptance of a prestigious design job. Before officially graduating, Tom’s talent was recognised by Spirit Yachts who invited Tom to join their design team full time.
We would like to congratulate Tom for winning this year’s award, and wish him the best of luck in launching his design career.
