Engineering, design and recruitment firm Contechs this week received its award at a high-powered dinner marking its debut into the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 for the first time.

Compiled by Fast Track, the league table in which Contechs clinched an impressive 30th place, ranks the country’s mid-market businesses with the fastest-growing international sales.

It is a tremendous accolade for the company which has offices in Basildon, Warwick and Cologne and has enjoyed exponential growth doubling turnover levels in the past five years to achieve £55m last year and is on target to reach £67 million in 2017. The company has also trebled its workforce and now has over 1000 employees in addition to operating a highly acclaimed apprenticeship programme.

Held at the luxurious Dorchester House Hotel in Mayfair, guests included Julian Metcalf, the founder of the Asian inspired food chain Itsu and co-founder of Pret a Manger, who took part in a Q & A with Sunday Times Editor Iain Dey and Andy Rubin, Executive Director of the family owned Pentland Group which owns brands such as Berghaus, Speedo, Ellesse and Canterbury as well as being a majority owner of JD Sports.

Contechs Managing Director Peter Jarvis along with his Commercial Director Ian Brookes were presented the award from the Sunday Times.

Peter Jarvis commented: “To be named as Britain’s 30th fastest growing company within the Sunday Times HSBC International Top Track 200 was an incredibly proud moment, not just for me, but for every Contechs employee. Further the fact that this was awarded in our 20th anniversary year made it even more special.

“It is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard working and dedicated team we have here at Contechs and reinforces our market leading position and reputation within the industry.”

Contechs has historically achieved year on year growth since 1997, however in the last 24 months Contechs’ growth has been phenomenal against a backdrop of ongoing investments of in excess of £3m to further expand its facilities in Basildon, Warwick and Europe to accommodate growth.

The firm also operates at sites in Slovakia and India where it has secured a number of high value contract wins with prestigious OEMs and first tier suppliers during the past two years.

Established in 1997, Contechs specialises in automotive, providing services for Design & Engineering, specialist Technical Recruitment, Interior Trim-component manufacture, Materials Handling & Logistics Planning.

Contechs’ list of clients features some of Europe’s largest and most prestigious vehicle manufacturers, encompassing high volume carmakers, performance specialists and first tier suppliers.

Peter Jarvis added: “The past two years have been just fantastic. We have been able to create hundreds of new jobs in the UK and overseas, making strategic investment into technical specialists to ensure that we maintain the all-important skill sets which have been at the core of Contechs success. We are not however complacent and will continue to invest in both our people and facilities to ensure that we continue to maintain the levels of service that have become the hallmark of the Contechs name within the automotive industry.”
