Structural Design

Contechs BIW / structural engineering teams have extensive experience of global programme and project management in the following types of structures and their interface with the vehicle interior.

	Creation of package layouts from concept
	Engineering parts list generation
	Prototype build and test support
	Crashworthiness predictions including load path determination
	Compliance with legislative requirements
	Assessment of the ability of the structure to comply with all the requirements specified in the vehicle safety strategy.
	Contechs has a proven track record of engineering a wide range of body structure types from both traditional and new types of body structures such as:
-	Sheet-steel monocoque
-	Ladder frame structures (cab on frame)
-	Aluminium alloy and steel space frames
	Dimensional Management and Analysis

These engineering functions are supported by an in-house manufacturing capability that provides Models (Snapshot and SLAs), Cubes, Gauges/CCFs, Rapid Prototypes, Tool design and manufacture and low volume production parts. CAE (Radioss and Dyna) is used to validate the vehicle structure to efficiently manage crash energies by:

	Crash pulse optimisation for restraint system integration
	Vehicle structure developed for worse crash scenarios (front, side, rear, rollover) such as:
