Leading automotive design and engineering company, Contechs, has been named as the 72nd largest independent business in Essex, in the 2017 Essex Limited annual survey.

The survey analyses the performance of the county’s 100 largest independent companies, providing a yardstick against which the county can assess its economic performance.

The report is produced using the most recent financial statements, focusing on the top 100 largest owned and managed companies in Essex – Contechs has been found to be the 72nd largest independent business in the county and was one of ten automotive companies to be recognised.

The report highlights that the turnover in the automotive sector has increased by £63m, and now employs 2,668 people across Essex, with a £1,335m turnover revealed.

2017 saw a number of key investments from the firm, including a £3m expansion fund for several of its sites, including Basildon in Essex.
