Contechs is proud to have initiated and sponsored ‘The Steve Olney Memorial Award’. This is an annual award that is presented by Contechs in memory of Steve Olney, to final year undergraduates in the School of Industrial Design at Coventry University, for outstanding design achievement. |
The award is presented to the best undergraduate student for their overall body of work produced in industrial design in the course of the academic year that best represents the application of technology, craftsmanship, innovation and engineering in design, whilst espousing the personal values held by Steve of open minded cooperation, seeking solutions through team working, all the while enhancing the lives of those around him .

Details:
- The recipient of the prize is judged by a senior panel of representatives from the School of Industrial Design and Contechs Ltd in the course of the final summer term.
- The prizes consist of a model/statue permanently on display at the University, a replica of the model/statue and a cash prize of £500 is presented to the winning undergraduate.
- The prize is presented in November of each year, at the annual School of Industrial Design Degree Show.
The winner of the prestigious 2009 ‘The Steve Olney Design Award’ is James Trim.
The Judging panel wishes to express sincere thanks and extended congratulations to James Trim for completing such an excellent final year design concept. James’s winning Volare design; was selected from over 150 other designs. |
