Award Coup for Engineering, Design and Recruitment Specialist Engineering, design and recruitment firm

Engineering, design and recruitment firm Contechs has added yet another trophy to its awards cabinet after being named Company of the Year in the Coventry Telegraph Awards.

The leading specialist supplier to the automotive industry impressed judges with its ethos of innovation, investment in people, design flair and engineering excellence.

The company, which has bases in Warwick, Basildon, Germany, Slovakia, Ukraine and India, counts prestigious OEMs and Tier One suppliers among its customers.

Having enjoyed a period of substantial growth it is now poised to  significantly increase its turnover to £110 million by 2022 as the market expands with the growth of autonomous cars and electric hybrid vehicles.

The trophy was presented at a glittering gala dinner at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, to Pete Jarvis, MD of Contechs, and Chris Innes, the company’s Operations Manager, by Mike Crone, Global Purchasing Director of JLR, sponsors of the award.

Pete Jarvis, MD of Contechs, said: “This is an exceptional award to win and I would like to thank all the Contechs’ teams for their hard work, dedication and commitment over the past twelve months.

“This is an exciting time for Contechs as we have had an incredible year of new contract wins. Along with implementing new  systems and procedures to help underpin the next phase of  our growth plans

“By 2020 we will start to see a significant increase in electric cars on our roads and we are investing in technology and people to make sure we continue to be at the forefront of the automotive industry.”

Contechs has gone from strength to strength in recent years, doubling its workforce in the past 24 months, opening two new facilities in Eastern Europe and investing more than £5 million in people, processes and facilities in the UK.

The overseas expansion, which is already providing a boost to its UK operations, includes new offices and manufacturing plants in Slovakia and the Ukraine, with new products expected to be launched later next year.

In the UK it has trebled the size of its trimming operation in Warwick, invested more than £3 million in state-of-the-art equipment and automated processes, £4 million in new design, engineering and recruitment centres based in Basildon and Warwick, and £1 million in key personnel as part of its ongoing recruitment drive and succession planning.
