POSITION TITLE:                    UG Design Engineer
                                                           
LOCATION:                             Midlands        

DURATION:                             3 Months Minimum Contract

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR POSITION:

Indicate type of knowledge and minimum years experience required to carry out position responsibilities

Understanding of the science of materials.
Familiarity with body vehicle structures.
Knowledge of press tools and sheet metal pressings – body panel fabrication techniques.
Knowledge of body construction techniques.
Ability to read and understand Body in White drawings.
Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Skilled in the use of software applications such as Excel, Word, Project, etc.
Proven design experience with Unigraphics CAD
Experience in Parametric modelling and Surfacing techniques preferred.

Basic Functions:

Indicate the primary purpose of the function and those major factors that distinguish this position from others

Modify existing body structures to meet project requirements.
Design and integrate new body features into vehicles.
Provide technical design support and vehicle body and structural knowledge to assist in resolving project, manufacturing and quality issues.
Train and coach other experienced designers in the Unigraphics system.
Work closely with Project Engineers to achieve design objectives.
Work closely with Release Engineers to achieve project objectives

Primary Responsibilities:

Describe the nature of responsibilities and types of decisions made.  Clearly define responsibility limits.

• Engineering design of new/revised body features.
• Liaison with sheet metal/press tool suppliers.
• Liaison with other engineering/design centres,
• Ensure designs meet project timing, quality and technical requirements.
