Position:                             Fitter/Tester - Own Tools Required!

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible to:  Team Leader – Engineering Workshop and Test Facilities

SCOPE: To work on Prototype vehicles specifically fault finding and diagnostic work using VAS and laptop aids, building and preparing vehicles, carrying out rectification, remedial and enhancement work in conjunction with Engineering project teams and ensuring motor cars function, perform and are prepared to the appropriate standard within tight timeframes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Fault finding and diagnostic work
2. Build and prepare engines or vehicles to the highest standard and carry out controlled engine/whole vehicle development testing.
3. Carry out rectification, remedial and enhancement work in conjunction with Engineering Project team.
4. Ensure the engine/vehicle function, perform and are prepared to the highest standard within tight time frames.
5. Support for worldwide off site field activities when required.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

1. Broad based product/engine range knowledge.
2. Basic computer knowledge

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to work flexibly within the team.
2. Good communications skills and ability to communicate at all levels
3. Be Self-motivated and a team player.
4. Be prepared to work off-site – overseas if required.
5. Willing to embrace new technology – specifically VW systems in conjunction with Partners.
6. Familiarity and knowledge of test instrumentation and procedures would be an advantage

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good Whole Vehicle knowledge both 61x and 82x Series.
• Qualified time served fitter.
• Understanding and ability to work to TS16949 standards.
